Transloading in Vancouver, the short version
Transloading between marine containers and domestic trailers, 4 minutes from the Trans-Canada and about 14 from GCT Vanterm. Short legs rather than long shuttles. The container comes off the port or the ramp on our chassis, the product moves to a domestic trailer here, and the box goes back before demurrage starts. The clock is the whole argument. Demurrage runs while the box sits at the terminal and detention runs while you hold the chassis, so the value is in how quickly the container is stripped and returned, not in the transfer itself. Because the drayage, the dock and the onward truck are all ours, there is no second company to wait on between those steps.

FAQ
Transloading in Vancouver, questions
Why transload instead of shipping the container inland?
It is usually cheaper and faster, and it gets the container back before demurrage starts. We will tell you honestly when it is not worth it for your lane.
Can you transload out of a marine container?
Yes. Transloading between container and domestic trailer is routine here, and the yard and dock capacity are set up for it.
Do you need a rail siding for the rail work?
No siding needed. Your rail freight still lands here: we run drayage and transload off the CN and CP ramps daily on our own chassis.
What happens if the container lands before the onward truck is ready?
It waits here rather than at the terminal, which is the cheaper place for it to wait. The product comes off, the box goes back, and the freight sits on our floor until the domestic leg is ready to move.
Can you transload freight that has not cleared customs yet?
Yes. Bonded, duty-deferred storage runs at this operation, so goods can sit under customs control here while clearance is worked out, then move on our own trucks once they are released. One agreement with Rolls Right covers both halves.
How much product fits from one container?
It depends on how the box was loaded and what the domestic trailer can legally carry, which is why we look at the packing list rather than quote a rule of thumb. Floor-loaded freight usually repalletises into fewer positions than people expect.
