Cross-Docking in Calgary
Freight comes in one door and leaves through another the same day. No storage charge, no put-away, no waiting for a pick.
Cross-Docking in Calgary, the short version
Freight comes in one door and leaves through another the same day. No storage charge, no put-away, no waiting for a pick. We run our own cross-dock inside the Calgary building, with our own trailers based here and a daily lane to Vancouver six days a week. If your problem is distance rather than space, this is usually the answer. Most of what crosses this dock is either freight staged for the Vancouver lane or inbound consolidated for delivery across Alberta. Both are scheduled against each other rather than improvised, because a dock door nobody booked is a truck waiting.

FAQ
Cross-Docking in Calgary, questions
Do I need to be a storage customer to cross-dock?
No. Plenty of cross-dock volume never sits in our racking. It's often how a relationship starts.
How does the Vancouver lane work?
Six days a week, our trucks, our drivers. Product can be staged in either building and moved on the lane rather than sitting in the wrong province.
Is this a cross-dock or a transload?
They get used interchangeably and they are not the same job. Cross-docking moves freight between trailers without it ever being put away, so there is no storage line. Transloading changes freight between modes or containers, most often out of an ocean container onto a domestic trailer, and storage either side of it is normal. Calgary does both, they are quoted differently, so tell us which pattern you actually need and we will price that one.
Can you deliver across Alberta off the dock?
Yes, and it is most of what this dock does. Inbound consolidated here, sorted, and out to retail DCs and delivery points across the province on our own equipment with appointments booked rather than hoped for. Our own trailers are based at this building, so the capacity is here rather than arranged.
