Cross-Docking in Vancouver
Inbound to outbound without touching a rack, across twenty dock doors and four grade doors on East Broadway.
Cross-Docking in Vancouver, the short version
Inbound to outbound without touching a rack, across twenty dock doors and four grade doors on East Broadway. Cross-dock works when the timing is right and costs you money when it is not. We will tell you which one your freight is before you commit to a pattern. Twenty dock doors matters more here than square footage does. A cross-dock fails when no door is free at the moment the freight lands, which is a scheduling constraint rather than a space one.

FAQ
Cross-Docking in Vancouver, questions
How long can freight sit?
Hours rather than days is the point of cross-docking, but we have the floor to hold it if the outbound slips. We will tell you when a pattern is really short-term storage rather than a cross-dock, because they price differently.
Can you consolidate from multiple suppliers?
Yes. Inbound from several vendors, sorted and rebuilt into one outbound load is a normal pattern here.
Do you cross-dock to Calgary?
Yes. The Calgary lane runs six days a week on our own equipment, so freight can come off an inbound here and be on that trailer the same day.
Can you cross-dock straight out of a container?
Yes, and it is one of the more useful patterns we run. The container comes off the port on our own chassis, gets stripped at the dock, and goes onto the outbound without ever being put away — which removes a storage line and a handling line at the same time. It only works if the outbound is booked before the container lands, so tell us the timing early.
